When @cogdog & @twoodwar Were Building Websites From Google Spreadsheets Years Ago

I’ve been exploring using a Google Spreadsheet as a website database.

This led me to a tool called Tabletop.js. It looks like a nice tool, but with my limited coding knowledge I haven’t gotten it to work yet.

Then I discovered that Alan Levine had done something similar in 2009 with PHP.

And in 2008, Tom Woodward was doing the same thing I’m exploring now—a website powered by Google Forms. Tom has also updated to doing this with Angular.js.

Now I’m not sure which way I want to proceed.

At the end of the day, I want content on a website to be generated from a Google Sheet. Specifically, a Google Sheet that is the receiving end of a Google Form. That way when folks fill out an embedded form on the website, the publication of that content is automated to the website through this setup.
